흙의 우연함으로 담은 보령의 풍경
해가 지고 어둠이 내린 산에 도심의 불빛이 켜지고, 멀리 호수와 바다 그리고 섬이 보이는 보령의 풍경을 한 폭의 수묵산수화처럼 담았습니다. 붓으로 그리지 않고, 액션페인팅을 하듯 흙을 뿌리고 흘려 표현합니다. 안쪽에만 시유 작업을 해 흙의 질감을 느끼실 수 있습니다.
Boryeong's landscape is captured in abstract expressions
The landscape of Boryeong, where the sun sets, the dark mountains are lit up by the city lights, and the lake, sea, and islands are visible in the distance, is captured like an ink wash landscape painting. It is not painted with a brush, but rather sprinkled and spilled like action painting. You can feel the texture of the soil by using oil only on the inside.

어릴 적부터 보령에 놀러올 때마다 인상 깊게 생각하던 아름다운 풍경을 한국적인 감성으로 담고 있습니다. 붓을 사용하지 않고 하나하나 표현하기에 같은 것이 없습니다. 더불어, 보령의 상징인 머드를 사용해 특별함을 더했습니다.

I observe and reflect on what is close to me, such as nature and local characteristics, to find and reinterpret what is special about the familiar.
I captured the beautiful scenery that has impressed me since I was a child whenever visited Boryeong with a Korean sensibility. I express them one by one without using a brush, so nothing is the same, and I added a special touch by using mud, the local specialty of Boryeong.
History
외면받았던 보령을 밝혀준 머드
머드는 물기가 있어 질척한 흙으로 주로 진흙과 동식물의 분해산물, 토양, 염류 등이 오랜 세월 동안 여러 화학적·지질학적 작용을 거쳐 형성된 것입니다. 1990년대 초반까지 보령의 대천해수욕장은 진흙으로 지저분한 바다로 인식되어 외면받았으나, 당시 시장이 한 영화에서 온몸에 진흙을 바르고 데이트하는 장면을 보고 보령 머드팩 개발을 시작했습니다. 이후 보령 머드의 무해함과 피부개선, 노폐물 제거, 항균 작용, 혈액 순환 촉진 등의 우수성까지 밝혀내 현재 축제와 K-화장품으로 사랑받고 있습니다.
The mud that brought Boryeong to the limelight
Mud is waterlogged, gritty soil that is formed from a variety of chemical and geological processes over many years, mainly mud, plant, and animal decomposition products, soil, and salts. Until the early 1990s, Boryeong's Daecheon Beach was perceived as a muddy and dirty sea and was shunned, but the then mayor started developing Boryeong Mud Pack after seeing a movie in which a couple went on a date with mud all over their body. Since then, the harmlessness of Boryeong Mud and its excellent properties such as skin improvement, waste removal, antibacterial action, and blood circulation promotion have been discovered, and it is now loved as a mud festival and K-cosmetic.

수묵화는 중국 주대 말기부터 시작된 먹의 농담(진하고 연함)을 이용하는 그림으로 산수, 인물, 화조, 영모, 사군자 등 다양한 소재가 그려졌습니다. 우리나라에서는 고려시대부터 전래되어 조선시대 안견, 강희안, 정선 등을 대표로 거쳐 한국 특유의 수묵산수화가 자리 잡았습니다.

Ink wash painting, a calm attitude towards nature
Ink wash painting is a type of painting that originated in the late Zhou Dynasty in China, using ink’s dark and light to create a variety of subjects, including landscapes, humans, flowers and birds, animals, and sagunja(four gracious plants). In Korea, ink wash painting was introduced during the Goryeo Dynasty and became a distinctive Korean art form through representatives such as An Gyeon, Kang Hee-an, and Jeong Sun during the Joseon Dynasty.
